Linda ReaderCommunity Economic Development & Marketing Consultant

www.lindareaderconsulting.com

It represented a huge learning curve for former downtown Toronto resident, Linda Reader to become entrenched in grassroots rural issues as a farm owner and resident in Grey County. In time the 20 years of previous marketing experience as a consultant and Professor in the Business School at Humber College, combined with her on-farm trials raising chickens and ducks plus learning to drive a tractor prepared her for a new career in rural development.

With training in Community Economic Development (CED) at the University of Waterloo and lots of volunteer work in the field, Linda was hired as an Economic Development Officer (EDO).

Currently she works as a consultant retained by municipalities in mid western Ontario for downtown revitalization, municipal branding and marketing projects, labour market analysis and strategic planning for industrial, agricultural, local food and tourism related economic development projects.

Recognized by her peers at the Economic Developer's Council of Ontario and the Economic Developer's Association of Canada for outstanding work with 7 national Market Canada Awards, (2007, 2008, 2011) including Best of Show and two provincial awards of Merit (2008) and as a finalist for the Governor General’s Award at the EDCO conference in 2008.

Successful projects include the Butter Tart Trail™, The Horse & Buggy Trail™, The Grey County Chefs’ Forum local food project,’ Walk With the Herons’ a downtown revitalization and branding proposal for the town of Mitchell’s  BIA, ‘Bobolinks to Snipes’ birding map.  Current projects include a feasibility study for a creative industry incubator in the Town of Minto and a new tourism project, the Heritage Highway.
