Speaker: Barry Kennedy

Barry KennedyBarry Kennedy seems determined to decipher this country. He grew up in Winnipeg, went on to graduate high school and university in British Columbia, and spent ten years as an air force officer flying aircraft into any city or town that would give him landing clearance.

The creative arts then beckoned and he morphed from fighter pilot to standup comic, actor, keynote speaker and writer.

Kennedy has appeared in over thirty movies and TV productions, headlined at Canadian and US clubs from coast to coast, addressed everyone from local golfers to Golan Heights peacekeeping troops, corporate executives to trial lawyers.

He has three published novels—Through the Deadfall, The Hindmost and most recently Rock Varnish—and had the wonderful opportunity to explore the north over two winters as host of Discovery Channel’s Out in the Cold, in which he spent time with and worked alongside people from the Yukon to Nunavik to the high arctic of Ellesmere Island.

And through all the twists and turns, the roving and meeting of new friends, he can’t quite shake the feeling it’s the Newfoundland blood in him that’s causing all the trouble.
